Invisalign

Invisalign® may be your ideal alternative to braces
Some people refer to Invisalign® as clear braces. In fact, this system is not braces at all. There is not a single bracket or wire and no sign of metal in the Invisalign® treatment process. Instead, "braces" consist of nearly invisible plastic aligners that look something like a mouth guard, only far thinner and more discreet. We are pleased to offer our Nashua patients the opportunity to straighten teeth with this remarkable system. In some cases, the entire smile makeover may consist of teeth straightening with convenient, comfortable aligners. Using this system, we can close gaps, reposition turned teeth, and correct mild bite problems such as over-bite and more. What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is an innovative way to correct mild misalignment and malocclusion. The idea behind this system is the same as braces: to move teeth with gentle, consistent force. Beyond the initial purpose, however, Invisalign® is different from braces in just about every aspect. One of the primary benefits to the use of trays rather than brackets and wires is the minimal disruption to daily life. As you go through your treatment process, you retain the ability to keep your teeth healthy and clean through daily brushing and flossing without obstacles getting in the way. Because aligners are removable, you also do not have to alter your eating habits. The primary disadvantage to Invisalign® goes hand in hand with its greatest benefit. Removable aligners can be lost or can create the temptation to leave trays out more often than you should. In order to complete treatment successfully, aligners should be worn 22 hours each day and switched every two weeks as directed in the treatment plan. With compliance, Invisalign® can straighten your smile in about a year.
The Invisalign® process
Everything about Invisalign® has been designed for ease and efficiency. Rather than relying on standard X-rays and impressions alone, the Invisalign® process involves detailed imaging of the teeth and the mouth. Images obtained in our office are sent to a state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to the creation of aligners. In this lab, advanced computer software creates a map of teeth as they are and expands that map into a step-by-step animation, which shows the progression of movement. Before you wear your first aligner, you will see your transformation on our computer screen.Treatment with Invisalign® involves wearing prescribed aligners every day, removing only for meals and for oral care. Every two weeks, a new set of aligners will be inserted. Every six weeks, you will visit our office, where we can assess progress and discuss any challenges you may be having. In six to eighteen months, treatment is complete and a retainer is made.
